Getting Organized - The Pantry
Yikes! The pantry has gotten a little out of hand and was ready for a spruce up.
The main problem was that I had not really defined what the contents of each shelf should be with a label. I knew where stuff was supposed to go and generally kept like items together, but without it being defined my husband and kids didn't really know where things were supposed to go. I also needed to move the placement of some of the categories around so that they functioned a little better. It really bugged me that the cereal and syrup were on the bottom shelf and not near the shelf with the other breakfast items.
I pulled everything out and then lined the back of the shelves with paper. I used wrapping paper and double sided tape. Once that part was done I had to decide where to put everything.
The Categories
paper products
overflow/condiments
cans
rice/beans
breakfast
dinner
bread/PB/honey
chips
sweets
crackers
potatoes
snacks
beverages
appliances
I just made simple labels with my label maker and put them on the front of each shelf. It's not fancy, but it makes putting things away much easier for everyone.
