A Simple Painted Project - Chalkboard Made from Wood

This is one of those projects that has been on my to do list for far too long. Way back in July, I made plans to lighten up our dining room and a large chalkboard to make to make it more functional since we also use it as our homeschool room. I did paint the room, but it took me a while to get around to making the chalkboard. Mainly because there were about 14.5 other things ahead of it on my to do list.

I used a large scrap of luan that was left over from another project, cut it to size, painted it with chalkboard paint, and then had my husband screw it directly on the wall.

I normally use the spray chalkboard paint, but I went with the roll on kind this time. I didn't have any primer on hand, so I just used a coat of regular wall paint first, and then went over it with the chalkboard paint. I think it took 3 full coats, but I can't remember for sure. It was still very simple.

I may eventually frame this, but for now I really like it as it is.

This post is day 27 of a 31 day Series. You can see all 31 Simple Painted Projects HERE.

Cute! I love the idea of framing it, too!
