The Painted Dresser + Gallery Wall

This dresser update actually happened about 1.5 years ago. Um, yeah. Bad blogger.

The History

Redo #1 - When I was pregnant with Henry, my husband's grandmother gave this dresser to us to use in the nursery. It was primed and painted navy blue. We also replaced all of the original pulls with brushed nickel knobs and pulls.

Redo #2 - The dresser had an old musty kind of smell that never really went away when we painted it the first time. This made it not a great option for storing baby clothing, so I painted it again and moved it to our living room in our previous home.

Redo #3 - Not pictured because I can't seem to locate a picture, but it was a brownish/greyish color.

Redo #4 - We really needed a better media cabinet after we moved into this house. We removed the bottom drawer, made a new bottom that could be used to hold tv components, and then added a new back. My handy husband did most of that work and then I painted it teal. The plan was to use it as a media cabinet in the living room. It was there for about a month. The scale was all wrong for the living room wall, but I was trying really had to use what we had. Thankfully a month or so later we got a hand-me-down media cabinet that was the perfect size for our living room.

The dresser was then moved to our bedroom. It has been in the place pictured as well as used as a nightstand, but works much better like it pictured and was recently moved back to this spot. That is the short version. Oh, and the dresser does not have that old smell anymore, so it can be used to hold clothing.

I painted a few mirrors that I have been collecting from thrift stores white and then added a few of our wedding pictures to create a gallery wall. I also printed out 1 Corinthians 13 and framed it. You can find that free printable here.

Our bedroom furniture is a matching set that we bought for our first anniversary. I still really like our furniture, but I also like having a painted piece thrown in the mix. This is one of my favorite pieces of furniture.

The rest of the room is still a work in progress, but this little spot makes me happy.

  2. So cute! And I love the baskets. Gives it just the right warmth to balance the white. I need to see it in person too. ;)
