Dare to - Deck the Halls

Dare to DIY

This weeks Dare to - Challenge was to  make something new to deck your halls with. I decided to go with a wreath. Actually, I started this wreath over a month ago at a bi-monthly craft group that I attend, and this was the push I needed to finish it. :)

Nice and easy. The only time consuming thing is cutting out all of the felt/fabric circles. I just did it while watching tv. You can go here for more details on how to make the wreath.

Now, if I could just decide on some wreaths for my front doors. They are still bare.

Dare To - Entertain

Hopefully most of you remember that I am participating in Kim's Dare to DIY series. This week is Dare to Entertain.

We are not hosting Thanksgiving this year, so I went ahead and set my table for Christmas. I have actually been looking forward to setting my table for Christmas for a while now. I have had the hurricanes and salad plates for close to 7 years, and still smile every year when I pull them out of the box. The red sparkly runner is one that I have had and then I layered some green silk fabric that I pulled from my stash. I usually use some silver napkin rings, but I decided to change it up. I just strung some mini ornaments on a piece of ribbon and tied them around the napkins.

Dare to...Have Traditions

Is everyone ready for Christmas?

Since it is finally the week of Christmas I thought I would share some of our Christmas traditions with you.

2007

1. Christmas Baking- The little man and I always look forward to baking. We usually make some type of cookie and some type of muffin.

2007

2. Reading the Christmas story from Luke in our bed before we see what's in our stocking.

3.Christmas Breakfast - Cherry Danish- This is so good.

This year we are going to start a new tradition. We are going to bake a Birthday Cake for Jesus. The little man is getting old enough to understand the real reason that we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus. He really is the best gift of all.

Dare to DIY - Entertain

This week is all about entertaining - setting the table. I will not be hosting Thanksgiving this year, but if I were this is what my table would look like.

I like to keep things simple. I used what I had and colors that I really like. I also may have borrowed a few things from my mother's house.

What I Used
dark turquoise place mats for a pop of color
bronzish chargers borrowed from mother
my white plates and bowls
brown napkins to warm up the color scheme
a pumpkin in each bowl
centerpiece - a hurricane filled with plastic pumpkins and gourds

Be sure to check out Dare to DIY blog parties each week for some great inspiration.

Dare to DIY - Be Thankful

This is the first week of the Dare to Do it Yourself Blog Party Challenge - Dare to Be Thankful.

For this particular challenge I decided to look around my house and see what I could come up with using things that I already had. I thought about how framing something makes it seem important, and Giving Thanks is always important. This will be a simple reminder for the next 2 weeks in our house to Simply Give Thanks.

Supplies
-frame
-background (cork or burlap)
- sheet of scrapbook paper
-printer or stamps
-bag of fall leaves
-hot glue gun
-acorns or any other embellishment
