I had big plans of changing out the ceiling fan for something like a a drum pendant, but then Summer in South Alabama hit. It is HOT. This is the first time that we have lived in a 2 story house and we are finding that using a ceiling fan is necessary. SO, I decided that instead of replacing the ugly thing, I'd see if I could give it a make over.
Here is what it looks like now. After a coat of primer and oil rubbed bronze spray paint. I flipped the blades over to the the side with a darker wood tone, and voila, a new ceiling fan.
I'm still not a big fan of the ceiling fan in general, but this one doesn't bother as much as it did.
Here is a sneak peek at what I have been working on.
Happy Friday.
What a great re-do. I totally agree on how necessary ceiling fans are - even her in Ohio. We just moved to an older home and, unfortunatly our ceilings upstairs are only 6 feet which means no ceiling fan for us - may be one of the things I miss most (and that is saying a lot because we don't even have a dishwasher in this house!)
ReplyDeleteI love your projects! The fan looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteGreat transformation, I'm not a big "fan" of fans either, but we have one in our upstairs bedroom for the same reason. It desperately needs a makeover.
